Samsung Galaxy Note 510: First Impressions

Samsung has launched a new tablet in the Indian market, this time it is the 8-inch Android tablet. Called the Galaxy Note 510, it has all the look and persona of the Note family of devices.

Straightaway, the form factor, we believe, will appeal to anyone who doesn’t find the phablets comfortable enough to use, and yet does not want a full-fledged 10-inch tablets. The 8-inch display size of the Note 510 means it will fit brilliantly in the hand, particularly when you may want to show off the interesting features on the device!
The build quality seems to be satisfactory, and as we said before, the family resemblance in the terms of the colours and materials used. We will, however, reserve judgment till we test the device in detail.
The 8-inch display has a 1280 x 800 pixel display, and from what we experienced, the brightness levels and the colour richness is quite good. It is quite reflective though.

The S-Pen feature, along with the entire array of applications that are compatible with the stylus, has been carried as is from the Galaxy Note II. Pop-up video lets you play a video in a smaller window anywhere on the display while you may be busy doing some other work. The multi-tasking feature – Dual View, is also integrated in the Galaxy Note 510.

Before you start comparing, do remember that the Note 510 can make voice calls, thanks to the SIM card slot, while the iPad Mini cannot!
