MOOVIDA PROVIDES AWESOME USER INTERFACE AND MIND-BLOWING FEATURES....
Windows/Linux: Elisa, the clean, straightforward media center we previously toured, has grown into something else—namely Moovida, a similar but more advanced and TV-focused media center. Take a look at what's new in this brief screenshot tour.
Before you jump into the pretty pictures, let us note that Moovida, available free for Windows and Linux systems, plays nicer on XP and Vista systems than on Windows 7 RC, at least for the moment. It also asks for your email address to keep you up to date on upgrades, plugins, and other releases, but you can skip that sign-up screen during installation. On with the gallery.
Moovida drops Elisa's somewhat clunky spin-the-icons interface for neat columns of media, divided into movies, music, pictures, and then settings and plugin controls. The controls are optimized for browsing with a remote, as everything can be accomplished with forward and back clicks, and onscreen keyboards are brought up when necessary.
Like Boxee and other open-source media centers, Moovida hopes to grow organically through plugins. Right now, the developers have brought in a pretty nice collection of extenders for YouTube, deviantART, Flickr, the TED Talks, and other streaming media, but let's hope more on their way.
We dig the way album covers are shown as full-size backgrounds while tracks are playing, and you can browse photos and other no-sound-needed media while you're rocking out. If you've got video files with fan art, Moovida says it can roll with those, too.
You can't really see it in this YouTube clip (which buffered and played really quickly), but Moovida has "full HD support" for both online and offline media.
